If you want to surf the web anonymously you'll need to hide your IP.  There are plenty of sites selling software that claim they can hide your IP online, allowing you to be anonymous, but the truth is the only way you can be 100% anonymous online is through changing your IP and the only way you can really change your IP to another IP is by using a proxy server.

Being anonymous online means hiding your real IP of the computer you use to surf the internet with.  When you are accessing websites, downloading software or doing whatever you do online, many sites log and track IP activity.  By using your IP they are able to know what country, ISP and more than likely what city you live in.  To avoid allowing anyone knowing your location the best thing you can do is to change or hide your real IP.
